A repeatable workflow for accounting, audit, banking, finance, reporting and governance teams. Use it to organise analysis; do not treat it as an automatic accounting conclusion.
01 · Frame the issue
Record entity, jurisdiction, reporting period, transaction facts, contract terms and the exact accounting question. Identify missing facts before choosing a treatment.
02 · Analyse recognition and measurement
Separate classification, recognition, measurement, presentation and disclosure. State the applicable criteria, assumptions, calculations and alternatives considered.
03 · Evidence and review
Link the conclusion to contracts, ledgers, reconciliations, model inputs, approvals and source versions. Record preparer, reviewer, unresolved exceptions and escalation points.
04 · Financial statement impact
Check statement line items, note disclosures, estimates, judgements, materiality, related parties and consistency across the financial statements.
05 · Banking and IFRS 9
Connect financial instrument classification and expected-credit-loss analysis to data quality, forward-looking assumptions, model governance and independent challenge.
06 · Distinguish IFRS from local rules
Keep accounting requirements distinct from prudential regulation, tax law, company law, local adoption decisions and regulator-specific reporting templates.
